The Place
"Poggio Gaio" practically means
a pleasant little hill and was the ancient name of this area on wich olive
groves and fruit trees grow thanks to its good exposition to the sun and the
winds. On top of the little hill,amidst green and silence, are the ancient
buildings wich the present owners have completely restored and where they
continue their work as caretakers. 
The restoration was done with very ancient tecniques
and structures. All possible modern comforts have been added to make the sojourn
a more pleasant one.
The
Connections
Poggio Gaio is a tiny farm next to
the medieval village of Pian dei Giullari, south of Florence, close by to
Galileo Galilei’s home and only 3 km from the famous Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge)A
small bus n° 38/42 connects Pian dei Giullari to the centre of Florence. At
walking distance you will also find many of the enchanting sites surrounding
Florence such as Arcetri, Poggio Imperiale, La Torre del Gallo, Piazzale
Michelangelo, S. Miniato al Monte, S. Salvatore al Monte, Forte Belvedere, Ponte
Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, The Uffizi Gallery, 
and the centre with its monuments art
galleries. not far are the autostrade A1 and A11 (main highway connecyions) and
the superstrada Firenze-Siena. Only 5 Km away there is the Firenze-Certosa exit
(without having to drive through the city) and also close to the Firenze-Sud
(South) exit. At a short distance there are sport centers, tennis courts,
skating ring, swimming pool and golf club. In Florence many shows, exhibitions,
open-air markets and cultural events take place all year round to assure an
exciting and interesting vacation.
The
Products
All
products are grown on the farm with absolutely biological and natural
methods. The extra Virgin Olive Oil, the red wine and the VIN Santo wine are
among the best in Tuscany, due to the special soil. Under the humus of grounds
of the area called Monteripaldi is the Pietraforte stone wich was used in the
past to build Fiorentine Palaces such as the Pitti Palace and Palazzo Strozzi.
This confers quality to the extra Virgin Olive Oil (made with a cold
first-pressing) and enhances the flavour of the fruit. Excellent jams, jellies
and juices are produced with home-made and strictly biological methods, as well
as a variety of fruits and vegetables or breads of the Tuscan and Florentine
tradition.

the apartments
IL
DIOSPERO - Ground floor approx. 50 sq.m. (2 adults + 1 boy until
12 years). The apartment consists of the typical room with living/dining area
and kitchen of the local tradition but newly and freshly built. A large living
room and bedroom with comfortable double sofa bed ( 160 X 195), indipendent
entrance door. Shower and WC rooms.
IL FICO VERDINO
- First floor approx. 65 sq.m. (3 adults + 2 boys until 12 years). The
apartment consists of a large living/dining room with kitchen-corner. A staircase
lead to a loft with a single bed (cms 70 X 220). One master bedroom with French
bed ( cms. 140 X 195 ), one bedroom with French bed ( cms. 125 X 200 ). Bathroom
with shower.
ROSA BIANCA -
Ground floor approx. 50 sq.m. (3 adults). The apartment consists of the typical
room with living/dining area and kitchen of the local tradition but newly and
freshly built. A large living room and bedroom with two comfortable beds ( cms.
80 X 200 ) and sofa bed (80 X 195), this also has an indipendent entrance door.
Bathroom and WC room.
PALMA - First floor approx. 65 sq.m.
(5 adults). The apartment consists of a large living/dining room with kitchen-corner.
A staircase lead to a loft with two single bed (cms 80 X 200). One master bedroom
with bed ( cms. 160 X 200 ), one bedroom with bed ( cms. 160 X 200 ). Bathroom
with shower. A common laundry room in the building’s basement area is available
for both apartments.
