We are in the very heart of the hills surrounding Florence, between Florence (35 km, about 22 miles) and Arezzo (40 km, 25 miles), not far from Siena and "Chianti-shire" (15 km, about 10 miles). The farmhouse is surrounded by a wide olive grove covering over 2.5 acres, immersed in the Mediterranean maquis with the pine and chestnut trees and the age-old sequoias of the nearby park of the Castello di Sammezzano.

Podere della Carraia is in a secluded location that offers wide views over a landscape that seems to have remained unchanged for centuries. The first house is 1 kilometre away, and this is why it is easier here to understand what it means living in peace, quiet and privacy. The farmhouse, which includes three apartments available for farm tourists covering a total surface of 400 square meters, has very old origins as it still retains part of the medieval architecture.

The Carraia farmhouse has only three apartments available for our guests, called Cimabue, Masaccio and Leonardo, to pay homage to the three great artists born in this area. During partial restoration works, that included flooring, whitewash plastering, decorations and the addition of some basic utilities, such as the heating system and a bathrooms, the structure of the original lodgings was left as unchanged as possible. You can really lead a country-style life here, or at least you can live in an atmosphere that reminds the time when peasants lived here: slow life marked by the cockcrow, the tolling of the bells of a distant church or the rustle of the wind on the leaves of chestnut trees.
