The estate of the Borro,20km from Arezzo and 50km from Florence, has an old roman road, the Clodia and later called Cassia, that runs through it.
The Borro takes it's name from a castle that was situated 275m above sea level at the summit on a picturesque and isolated plateau, and surronded by a moat. It sat at the feet of the Pratomagno mountains that highlight it's charcter. The whimsical actions of the great lakes, and the later formation of the river Arno, are what created the Borro estate, and like Ganghereto and other places of this nature, they now provide a somewhat fearful alternative to flatness and monotony.
The vast and beautiful estate occupies a sort of small table at the feet of the enormity of Pratomagno. The weather is governed by the proximity of the mountains, and in winter it is not unusual for there to be sudden changes in temperature, and spring frosts come without warning. The area covers about 500 hectares with harmonious charcteristics and boundaries that have remained unchanged over the years. The torrent Agna, with it's limped waters that trickle and babble stone over stone, runs through the estate along with other smaller streams; Lorenaccio,Loreno and GiambonePart of the estate lies to the north of the road the "Sette Ponte" and is accesibile by a comunal road that climbs steeply to a height of 320m.At 400m you cross over the boundaries of the estate and continuing on you find yourself at the summit of Pratomagno at 1000m.
Of special interest with regards to the landscape,is the central zone with the Borro in the background and where the stream Rimocchi runs and meets the locality called Valle.
