THE COLOURS OF GARDA LAKE Desenzano del Garda is a small town of significant interest to tourists as it offers the visitor the Porticciolo Vecchio, the Cathedral, the Castle, and the Villa Romana with it antique furniture and an interlacing of lively streets. At Montecorno, a few minutes away from Desenzano, we can visit the Montecorno Farm and as well, admire a splendid panorama of the lake. As we leave Desenzano in the direction of Moniga, we meet the Visconti Cantine del Garda Farm. Then, making a detour we reach Lonato where we can admire some beautiful architecture and what remains of the Medieval fortifications. Nearby we can call on the Spin d'Italia Farm whose name reminds us of important historical events during the Risorgimento. Once we have left behind us the hills of Spia d'Italia we continue our interesting historical tour passing through Castiglione delle Stiviere which has a valuable urban structure in its city centre and the Museum of the Red Cross; then Solferino which is dominated by its impressive Fortress, built in 1022, where we can visit the Risorgimento Museum and the Ossuary at the little church of San Pietro. From here we continue to Cavriana arriving at Volta Mantovana where we can visit the Reale When we arrive at San Martino della Battaglia we can visit the Tower dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II, the Battle Museum and the Church of San Martino. We can pause nearby in the cellars of the Formentini Vineyards. As we continue towards Sirmione we make a small detour tofind the Marangona Farm. Farm (4). Heading off in the direction of the lake we arrive at Sirmione which is another famous spot on the the Brescia shore of Lake Garda. We can visit the 13th century Scalitent Fortress, the archeological site at the Catullo Caves and the tovvn on its promontory rich in little streets of characteristic shops. Sirmione is also the site of an important spa which uses water from a spring that gushes into the bottom of the lake. NIo~ing away from Sirmione in the direction of the Sirmione tollgates on the A4 Motorway, we can pay a visit to the Provenza Farm, on which there is also an interesting weather station.
