Spring
Is a beautiful season, the weather is splendid as well as the nature which offers a wide
panorama of beauties.
Springtime shows itself all of its generosity with plenty of fresh vegetables, from wild asparagus
and fennel to the fresh herbs and several salads. The mildness of the climate makes the
springtime the ideal time to visit art cities as well as the wonderful nature in the countryside.
Temperature is between 15° and 28°C, (59°-82 °F). In June it rains a bit.
Focus in the kitchen: Fresh spring vegetables and wild greens.
Summer
is quite hot during the day, but you can take shade under the century old trees in the
Podere il Poggione'sprivate garden.
The intense yellow of the sunflowers and the golden waves of the wheat fields makes you feel
the intensity of the summer sun, often accompanied by a light refreshing breeze. Purple sunsets
promise cooler nights and sometimes a light sweater is needed. We suggest that you to bring a
bathing suit because the Mediterranean sea is not far from here (45 min.)
Temperature is between 25°and 35°C, (77°-95°F).
Focus in the kitchen: Cooking with the Sun.
Fall
The beauty of the fall is in to the bunches of mature grapes, into the colors of the leaves
that melt together with the colors of the ground and in the sound of the farmer's telling stories
during the grape harvest. The rare rains in autumn bring out the aroma of mushrooms, truffles and
the soil. A good pair of trekking shoes will do for a walk in the woods.
Temperature is between 10° and 20°C, (50°-68°F).
Occasionally it rains.
Focus in the kitchen: The Truffle time.
Wintertime
Is never too cool, the experience of the olive picking and pressing in late
November, is a chance to be in touch with the deep tuscan tradition.
Temperature is between 4° and 18°C (39°-64°F).
It is mostly clear and it never snows.
Focus in the kitchen: The Simmering pot
