Antonio Schipani
The Ancient Art Of The Basket Weawing
Antonio Schipani is a Master in basket weaving. With his great ability in handling he can transform simple wires of rush, pith or the more traditional willow into useful and gracious objects, realized with such a precision to make them look like real embroidery. Baskets, hats, and anything that comes from the tradition such as baskets for the olive picking or for drying the figs is not a secret for him. Among his great works there is a 13 mt. guinness-huge basket made especially for the wine festival at Impruneta. Antonio's dream is to transmit the secrets of his job to the young people.
